Provided by Expert Zhang Youkang on 2018-07-09 15:47

Peritoneal Dialysis,Potassium,SaltAs a result of inadequate metabolic function of the kidneys, excessive intake of salt or salt-containing foods can lead to edema. Therefore, experts suggest that patients with peritoneal dialysis should try not to enter or less high salt foods in their daily life. The best control of salt intake is between 3-6g each day.

How do you control the intake of potassium?

Urine volume is less than 1000ml and edema patients must restrict potassium.

1. Eat fruit and fruit juice, vegetables and vegetable juice.

2. Avoid eating raw vegetables or vegetable soup. Vegetables should be cut into small pieces before being fried.

3. Potassium containing foods can be reduced by freezing, water soaking or discarding soup.

4. Do not use vegetable soup or broth to mix rice.

5. Vegetable boiled for 3 minutes and then stir fry.

6. After potato chips are soaked for 20 minutes, the juice is not poured out.

7. Ultra low temperature refrigerated food than fresh food potassium content less 1/3.

Food containing high potassium is:

Low Phosphorus and high potassium food: spinach, rape, bananas, oranges, proper juice, potatoes, tomatoes, lentils, radish.

High phosphorus and high potassium foods: soybeans (green beans, soybeans, black beans) and lean meat. Miscellaneous beans, mushrooms, peanuts and melon seeds.

Salt control is of great benefit to patients with kidney disease. For patients with peritoneal dialysis, controlling salt can reduce the use of oral antihypertensive drugs and save medical expenses.

On the other hand, controlling salt can reduce the capacity load, keep blood pressure at normal level, and better protect the residual renal function. Therefore, patients with peritoneal dialysis must not neglect to limit the intake of salt. Of course, don't forget that potassium restriction is also very important.
